Autism Transition Programs in Los Angeles
Bridge to a Better Quality of Life.
FACT Transition Programs are designed to support individuals with Autism in building a sense of self determination and personal preference through life experiences, laying a strong foundation for “bridging the gap” as they transition from their younger years into their independence and interdependence.
Some of Our Transitional Programs:
- Generating All Possibilities (GAP) - starting in the fall of 2011, FACT’s new “GAP” Experience will provide a unique, affordable, exploratory year for young adults graduating from high school with special needs. The program will allow the opportunity to experience an array of post secondary options including college, vocational education, national service, apprenticeships and creating their own micro enterprise.
- Person-Centered Life Skills Development - FACT’s “Life Skills” transition program is designed for those 12-22. Geared to the level of each group, this program enhances the quality of participant’s lives by learning “universal life skills” needed to maximize social, emotional and cognitive potential and navigate life more independently.
- Emerging Leaders - This weekend program offers young adults an opportunity to hone their leadership skills and knowledge, including working as mentors for younger clients and their families, assisting with teens in transition and serving as junior counselors at summer and school break programs.
- Weekend Roundabouts - Once a month 6th-12th graders meet for team building activities, community service projects and life experience outings that focus on teaching group members mobility training, executive functioning and life skills training.
